This is Lesson #3 in a special Substack series called “5 Steps to Transform Your Writing.” Hands down, this is the most useful tool in my editorial kit at Penguin Random House, and I’m excited to share it with you.
Using the creative lens of theater, students will learn to think critically and ethically about the stories they create and consume by examining the unique roles needed to produce a cohesive show.
If you have lost a loved one to the Call of Alcohol, sitting on the sidelines of the shit show, watching, witnessing, waiting for it to end, then this book is for you.
If moms of young children can find our way to embrace the limitations of the season, yet prioritize the cultivation of our mind, body, and soul, we can find joy and even thrive amidst the demands.
The sin done to us as kids leaves cracks in our soul. To survive our minds build up walls, coping habits that kept us protected back then, but keep us chained up in sin now. These unhealed wounds left scars that define who we are today. We have a choice to be defined by our scars or the scars of Jesus.
Can she remain true to herself while navigating hereditary and intrinsic demons? What battles are her own, and what battles are those of the complicated men who love her back.
Through learning about the people who were involved in the Resistance movement readers might be uplifted. (My book is a novel written in the genre of historical fiction.)
By spending time with God, getting clear on your family mission, and simplifying your curriculum (less is more) you will have a homeschool life you really enjoy.
Thank you so much! You are a wonderful teacher! I read " "Ruthless Elimination of Hurry" years ago. Powerful book. The most powerful books are clear and the author can convey information in a way that makes the readers think the book was written specifically for them. Books can change lives.
I write for faith-driven leaders who want to stay consistent in what matters most—building lives of wisdom, discipline, and character through practical structure and biblical truth. (First book is about Psalm 119)
To steward our God-given time well and leave a meaningful legacy, Christians must overcome our fear of death (by reading and praying Scripture, receiving the sacraments, and communing with the saints) and be mindful of the gifts God has given us.
The premise of my series is that “hopeful mothering”, can help women to BE the mamas our children need, even if our capacity to act is significantly constrained.
This is in response to the problem: “How can we BE the mamas our children need when there’s nothing we can DO—when there’s NOTHING we can do?” (a series for mothers constrained by complex or chronic physical health conditions/disability).
Oops - I repositioned my screen and accidentally posted my draft. Stink! Oh well… My big idea is that a deep dive into the rich soil of garden imagery yields a bumper-crop harvest of truths that help us discard an askance view of God and replace it with a full on trusting gaze of the God who explained so much of himself to us in a garden.
In modernity Christians should choose the holy rather than the special to not over-spiritualize or under-materialize this good world.
Thank you for this.
Blessings from a Spiritual Mother: Encouragement and hope for hurts and childhood gaps from the nurturing heart of God.
